The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
Written By:
The Original Gangsta
F. Scott Fitzgerald

This book is the essence of literature. It discreetly but monumentally captured my attention page by page and line by line. F. Scott Fitzgerald isn't forceful in his writing but has a silky smooth touch that poetically hypnotizes and enchants. By the end of the novel I was in a daze and reread the last line of the book multiple times, hoping that somehow the book would continue on...but I only found myself being pushed into the past. Naturally, I started the book over and discovered the hauntingly brilliant symbolism and identified key sub-plots. Sub-plots are key to this novel. By the end of the second reading I was in reverent awe and had the last line of the novel memorized.
Fitzgerald hits home with his references to the importance of the past and the illusion of the future. People can become so enthralled for expectations of the future that they miss the present, and end up missing life. Fitzgerald writes a lovely three course meal with everything included. By the end, you are full on goodness, are content with life, and are hoping that you can experience it again.
